No you do not need a plan. You can buy phone cards monthly.

Not if you already have a Tracfone with a plan. You can just put your old Tracfone SIM card in and your minutes and data will transfer. If you don’t have a Tracfone plan, than yes you need to purchase a plan or a Tracfone card.

This phone is locked to TracFone carrier, activate included sim, pay prepaid plan for 2 months to unlock it through TracFone customer service. Called them and they will unlock it for you after you have paid 2 months of there service.
