the customer get an email informing them of upcoming expiration and at that time choose whether or not to renew. they never do the auto renewal on softwere because numerous people sometimes like to change softwere .

The only issue I have with renewal programs is that the pricing is higher than in the stores. You are better off purchasing on line and update your system than going through the renewal process.
