“When I go to chat with someone they say that it sounds like I’m far away. How can I fix this”

With this headset you have two volume control dials. One controls the volume of the sound coming to your ears in the headphones. The other controls the loudness of your voice going through the mic to those your chatting with. Try turning that dial up more. If you are using a PS4, (and I’m sure Xbox would have a similar feature) go into Sounds and Devices and you can to a mic test where you can adjust how loud you speak, if you want to hear more of the game Audio vs. chat audio, etc...
