“I’ve had the headset charged for over 24 hours and the light has still not turned green and when I unplug it from the charger it won’t turn on. I understand it can be used while charging but I would like to use it without being plugged into the charger”

It sounds like you have a faulty unit, mine turns green in less than an hour of charging and can be used without the charging cable after that.
