If you have an Xbox One, you can go to your left panel, scroll down to settings and the headphone/chat settings will display there automatically.

The answer depends on which system you are using. If you are using XBox One, the volume for chat to game volume is on the left side of the adapater. To have the chat volume be louder, press the button that looks like a head. To make the game volume louder, use the button that looks like the controller. Hope this helped.

The controls for Game volume vs. Chat volume are located on the Xbox One dashboard under settings.

You can do it by double tapping the Xbox button then selecting the Settings icon. It will let you adjust the chat mixer by sliding it towards game.
