“Does the charger have to be plugged in to work? It will only charge my phone when it is plugged in and if this is the case it kinda defeats the purpose of it being a “wireless charger””

This needs to be plugged in for it to charge your device, but it charges your device magnetically.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes - being plugged in provides the power to the device so that your phone can charge. Being wireless (in this instance) refers to the phone not having to be tethered to a plug. You just have to set your phone down on the device and it will charge.
