• Yes the vents are blocked on the back of the Switch. The photo they use is false showing cut outs for them.

• I have not had the Switch get hot while using it. I have had the Switch get hotter while using it on the dock than with this battery.

• Those two grills on the back are not vents. They are holes for the speakers.

• If you are talking of the vents on the top of the device, No it doesn't. It leaves all ports open to air.
