• Yes.. you can use the battery, while plugged in also. The sound watts is peak 200 watts. Not bad for a portable speaker. You won't be disappointed.

• Hello shortdancemom, that is a great question. The Ultimate Ears Hyperboom produces 229 Watts and the sound range is 100 Decibels, which is double than the normal hearing value.
