This means you might have a low battery in the car, the detector can have “battery save mode” which is a way to turn off automatically to not drain the car battery. It also shows the voltage to let you know the what’s coming out your cig plug.

It will usually only alert you when the vehicle starts, but will also alert you any time your voltage meter is low. Once your alternator kicks in the device should work properly though, otherwise you may have a larger issue such as the battery not charging or the current not properly alternating.
