Theoretically yes, it will work. As long as you solder everything properly, it should work.

If you want to just set up additional speakers without the full effect of surround then you're just wasting your time. But if your TV in fact has surround outputs then i would give it a try. You can always return it if it doesn't work. Remember the receiver is the actual amplifier that will power your speakers.
