“even with the volume all the way up on my phone and on the remote it is SO quiet. am i missing a step?”

• If you want it to be louder, I suggest getting soe good external speakers or a sound bar.

Go to Menu-Option-Restore factory default to reset the projector and see if that makes a difference.
