It is an LED that should last longer than these have been being sold for. If the screen is "browned out" in a blotch over the image, taking the projector apart and cleaning everything will help, as might playing 10 hours of a YouTube "Burnt Pixel Fix" video through it. If the light source actually was burnt out, there would be no image at all.
