Please try again later.No need for total darkness, I have an aquarium with blue "moonlight" setting on at night that illuminates the wall with a blue light & the image isn't affected, however I would recommend a dark background if you plan on using a well lit room or just make the room dimly lit. You'd have to adjust the distance between your canvas as well as the visible screen size in the settings to make the proper size for your canvas, but it should work excellent for that.
