“I can hear audio but see no video. I see the VCR stuff like “Stop” but not actual tape. Also when recording, the wmv files appear in the created clips area of the edit tab, but when dragged to preview, it says file incompatible. Old PC’s wmv clips do work”

These symptoms often go with a weak VHS video signal exiting the player. The digital Play/Stop messages generated from the VCR come through correctly, the audio performs correctly, but the VHS video will be blank, a solid black/blue screen, or it can intermittently cut between showing video and not showing video. The best place to start is to clean the heads of the tape player a few times. It would also be useful to have a second VCR available for testing.
