• This monitor has a pair of integrated speakers. They are good enough for speech, but don't expect to enjoy music or movies with them.

• Oddly, I did not even notice the stereo speaker pair. The speakers are on the back and fire down. Thus, you may want an acoustically live surface under the monitor. The audio performance from my 15" MacBook Pro is good enough so that I've never noticed the audio support from the monitor. That means the monitor's speakers are good enough so that they did not degrade the Mac's built-in sound. Unless you require extraordinary audio performance (e.g., you use your computer to enjoy opera recordings on DVD or BlueRay), the monitor's speakers should be adequate (or better). If you need home theater or audiophile quality sound, or you want deafeningly loud noise; you know what to do.
