Hello, please be advised that as a stock item, the unit ships with 8 shelfs total. The 8 shelves is to enable that the customer can indeed fit in approximately 280-300 bottles. To do so, the unit will have additional ledges on interior for shelves to be repositioned to allow bottles to be double or triple stacked. Should customer want to purchase additional shelves for each additional set of ledges, the bottle capacity will be reduced.
