Yes you can insert a memory card. I use a SanDisk 16 GB SD card myself. Phone Model Number N9136

People who answer need to be more careful that they are speaking about the EXACT PHONE Model number, Carrier/Service that phone is or isn't locked to, and in some cases even the date/year released on. There seems to be (in some cases anyway) phones with what ( at quick glance) are the same models,BUT then in reality they are just a one digit or letter(s) different. This then is where it can be confusing or deceptive. I don't think people are trying to (I hope anyway) to intentionally mislead, deceive or confuse folks for whatever reason though. I just think some people do not realize that SD card slots are hidden inside phones. Back covers have to be removed to access the battery and find any AD card or SIM cards etc. and may even be under battery itself. NOT ALL PHONES HAVE EXTERNALLY VISIBLE SD or SIM card pull out slots. But as far as this phone here...I bought it for my daughter and since she tends to need lots of storage for video and pictures, I bought a 64gb micro ad card and put it in the sd card slot inside phone. To access it I removed back cover. Initially the phone notified me that new SD card was corrupted and would not open. Best Buy sales person told me the SD card must be defective. I told him that I just bought it from them, so it better be good. He then said, Okay, then maybe it just needs to format it first. Go to storage SD card and choose FORMAT. A warning popped up saying that FORMATTING SD card will delete all files on SD card. So if not a blank SD card make sure to backup /transfer and save all wanted files before FORMATTING previously used filled SD cards. I recommend just buying a used one or using a blank SD card. So Apparently it will take a 64gb micro SD card after FORMATTING it in this Virgin Mobile phone.
