I realize that for typical TV viewing we use the remote over 90% of the time, but for those times when you either are walking by the TV and don't have the remote nearby and want to lower/raise volume or turn on/off the unit, those on-set buttons come in handy. Also, if you are using this Vizio unit as a computer monitor which is within arm's reach, the on-set buttons are easier than looking for and sometimes fumbling with a remote.”

Only control button physically on TV is a power button. No volume control, no channel control, no menu control, no source buttons. Don't misplace that remote!
