• You can connect Component cables through the use of an adapter. These adapters can be found at most electronic stores.

• You probably could, but would need to get an adapter of some sort and it's just not worth the hassle. I believe I have the same receiver and chose not to do this. If your old receiver has an HDMI plug, which I suspect it does, I would just purchase a new HDMI cord if you don't have one.
