“We plugged in tv & connected to wifi but cannot get any of the built in apps to work. What do we need to do stream on this tv? Do we need an Amazon fire stick? What are we doing wrong or not doing? Help please. Asap. It’s for a college dorm room.”

We stream with ROKU with no problem. Did u let the TV set itself up? Meaning following directions screen by screen? That is all we did.
