Picture quality is by no means poor on this, native 1080p looks perfect and 720p also looks great, if a bit soft. That said, it is not built for being used outside so I do not think it would fair well being used on a patio. Another thing to consider is that a 1080p TV like this will get bright enough to overcome glare from sunlight. At the very least, you'd want a 4k TV with very high nit brightness, for example the Vizio P Series Quantum X or the Sony X950H. Keep in mind, those TV's are not actually intended for outdoor use, so they are not built to withstand the elements. I would suggest getting a TV made for outdoor use but they are very expensive. If you do choose to buy an indoor TV for your patio, just make sure you have some type of enclosure to properly protect it (and yourself).
