“I picked up my remote and my cable box temote and pushed something and now I can't get the volume to work what do I do. I don't see how it could have anything to do with the cable box remote but just in case”

Maybe go to settings (with t.v.remote) and find option that allows you to reset t.v. to factory default settings. I had to use it when I messed up my picture settings.
