“when playing Dolby digital 5.1 blurays system is not distributing the sound correctly when I play a concert DVD. The rear channels play what is played in the front channels instead of just picking up crowd noise. Mode is movie. Is this a known issue?”

You want to put it in "direct" mode to get the sound the Blu-ray is intending to send. Movie mode will simulate a surround sound and your results may vary.
