A:AnswerI have a Q70R paired with this soundbar. It will pass Dolby Digital + over the ARC to the soundbar. So apps that will do DD+ encoded with Atmos metadata will pass to the soundbar. I think Netflix and maybe Amazon apps do it now. The Samsung Disney+ app doesn't yet the last I checked, but it does on other devices like Xbox One X. Since the Q series doesn't have eARC, you will not get anything higher than DD+ w/Atmos metadata, you need to connect an Atmos capable external device to the soundbar directly using HDMI-in to get uncompressed or higher quality codecs (like TrueHD). So any Atmos enabled devices should go through the soundbar before the tv, you can find 4k/atmos ready hdmi switches if you have multiple Atmos devices. Otherwisee DD+ w/Atmos is the best you'll get by connecting to the tv first.
The soundbar does pass 4k w/HDR to the tv from devices connected to the HDMI-in. I am still trying to figure out if VRR/freesync gets passed through as well from stuff like the XB1X.
A:AnswerThe upward facing speakers are in the main sound bar and are meant to produce overhead sounds like a helicopter flying over head. It is only an ambient audio.
A:AnswerWe found that when we switch between apps we have to hit the source button for aux and enter/play and it switches with our choice. Hope that helps.
A:AnswerIt depends on what you mean by new. If you mean not used, the answer is yes- the seller would have to list it as used or refurbished if that was the case. If you are asking if the soundbar was a recent addition to the Vizio product line, the answer is no. This model has been available for at least a year.
