Thank you for inquiring about our product. If you wish to watch TV through an antenna, or a basic cable connection (coax), you would need an external tuner. If your cable service uses a cable box that has HDMI, composite, or component input, then you can use that, and you do not need anything extra. Tuner-free is designating that there is no coaxial port or TV tuner built-in. Thanks again and have a great day.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, if you have anything with an HDMI output (e.g. A Comcast cable box) you can plug it into the tv. The only thing you'd need a tuner for is if you were trying to receive TV signals over the air, like with an antenna.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can use cable TV without a tuner as I have been doing it for weeks. The tuner would only have to be purchased if you want over the airwaves channels using an antenna.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You don't need an external tuner if you have an Xfinity box. It will connect via HDMI (best,) or component video (good,) connections. With HDMI you will get both sound and picture, With component cables, you will need to connect audio separately. An external tuner would be needed if you didn't have cable or a streaming device, and wanted to watch local, over the air programs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will need a cable box that usually comes standard with cable. The tuner that it does not have is in reference to if you where to want to connect free over the air channels with an antennae, it will not work that way like most tvs do. If you have a need for that function then you would need an external tv tuner but again if you have cable with a cable box this will not be an issue.
