QuestionHDMI CEC support for power on / volume control when soundbar connected via HDMI ARC? My Samsung TV / Blu-Ray uses Anynet+ (trade name) and it works seamlessly using their soundbar. Does Vizio soundbar work the same w.r.t. power/volume control?

- Answer Although this works seamlessly with my Vizio TV, I have run into numerous issues in the past trying to get Vizio's 5.1 soundbar to work with a Samsung TV. I would strongly recommend trying it for yourself only because different models of TV's and soundbars respond differently to each other. A Sony TV worked perfectly with the soundbar despite the Samsung not working well at all with the same exact soundbar.

QuestionWhat is the difference between this vizio 3.1 and the original? I have the original and I love it except it's a pain changing inputs.if it is more user-friendly I will order this one in addition to my two other soundbars!

- Answer I don't know what the original is, but, I have no problem switching from Netflix, Blu-ray, PS3! I use the optical input!

- Answer I purchased both items ,the RCA universal remote,with the, Vizio # SB3831-DO, sound bar,that worked on a Samsung 42" plasma,the remote actually comes with a sound bar button,so you can control both ,the tv,and the sound bar.I would givre a 4 star for a rating.

QuestionI have this soundbar and a Vizio Smartcast tv. How do you get the hdmi arc to work? I can't get sound to come out of the sound bar. Turn off speakers, turn on CEC, but no soundbar listed under CEC. Soundbar isn't recognized.

QuestionThis item has a model number and title for the 5.1 system. That would include the subwoofer and 2 satellite speakers. It shows a picture of the 3.1 system. Which is correct? The regular price suggests the 5.1 otherwise this is overly expensive.

- Answer The Best Buy picture is incorrect. I checked the Vizio website and the SB3831 does not show the two satellite speakers.

QuestionDoes the HDMI In/Out passthough a 4K video signal? If I have a 4K upscaling bu-ray player attached to HDMI In, does HDMI Out preserve the 4K signal to a UHD TV?

- Answer Thank you for a great question! I apologize, but the HDMI passthrough would not properly passthrough a 4K signal. With this, we'd recommend connecting your device to your TV directly, and connecting the soundbar either via optical, or HDMI-ARC, as it is ARC compatible. Thanks again and have a great day!

Measuring the wattage each device is capable of transmitting & receiving and the impedance of each device (measured in OHMs) was balanced to achieve the maximum sound pressure level (or volume measured in decibels). Typically a speaker that can receive a higher wattage are also capable of creating a higher Sound Pressure Level (decibels). It’s important to note that watts is a measure of power, but sound pressure level, (The measure of volume), is the end result. In VIZIO Sound Bar Systems the components are self-contained and balanced so the wattage transmitted between each internal component is already configured to give you the maximum Sound Pressure Level, which for this Sound Bar is 101 dB.
