A heater really should never be connected to a power strip or surge suppressor. There have been numerous reports and articles telling of damage or failure to the power strip from overheating, too high a current draw. Regarding an extension cord, I urge you to search the topic to learn why or why not to use one, and what you need to look for if you do. Good luck.
