• Make sure the battery is installed in the base. Needs to be the correct size and plugged in. I had the same problem. Also, check that the jack is properly installed & wired. I had my cable provider check for dial tone and make necessary rewire adjustments.

• This sounds like a problem with your telephone service, and not the phone headsets themself. I also have Verizon Fios and it works just fine.
