Yes. I find I have been able to do that without even referring to the manual. One of the things I like about this phone is that I can intuit what I need to do for the results I want. It is not particularly complicated and the design of features is logical.....and I am a space case, so that is saying something ! LOL By the way, you can turn off the answering feature completely, if you so choose.
