Hello Happy, The fireplace in this TV console can heat a space up to about 400 sq feet. It's a simple plug in unit so installation is pretty easy. It does not come with a remote, but has two switches on the front that allow you to control heat and flames independent of one another. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
