As long as there is enough light not necessarily direct sunlight , shiuld still work. Though some solar devices tend to oberheat when under direct sunight like batteries, I cannot ascertain if this is the case. Mine uses only indirect sunlight.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Please know that our solar charger, if placed in maximum sunlight exposure, can significantly prolong the battery life of your Ring doorbell and eliminate doorbell downtime due to charging. We do recommend that you charge your Ring Doorbell to 100% before installation to ensure maximum charging efficiency. Please also note that the charging speed varies according to sunlight exposure (direct vs. partial). Therefore, it will charge 1% of the battery every 2 to 5 hours. Make sure that your solar charger is pointed toward the sun and not obstructed by other obstacles. Sudden changes in temperature may affect your solar charger’s charging abilities. Also, we noticed that there was a recent firmware update from Ring that made the doorbell drain more energy. We suggest you to turn off the Snapshot Capturing Function for a better solar charging experience. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to us again.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That is what I am having concerns with. The lack of winter exposer for me is also hampered by my overhang. May not be a great option if you don't recieve direct solar rays shining on the solar cells.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't see how. Tried it on a south facing covered porch and still wouldn't work there with sun coming in just not directly on the unit.
