i did visit the samsung web site, but they did not list my refrigerator. I suspect because it is a new model. RF22R7351DT/AA.

As far as turning off the water supply....I didn't turn mine off. It leaked a little water when I took the old filter out, and the water pressure might make it a little more difficult to take the filter out, but other than that I didn't see any problems.
