Yes, Sony says you need the heat sink for it. Unlike with many pc motherboards, there is no heat distribution plate to help cool the drive down. I’d stay with spec on this one and protect your ps5 in the long run.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. Any ssd in a ps 5 whould have a heatsink. However this heatsink is not one i would suggest for the ps5. It is wonderful for pc gaming, but for a ps5 i would opt for a samsung 980 pro or any other ps5 recomended ssd there are a bunch recomneded online. There is something with the speed of this SSD and onboard memory that itis lacking that is the issue. Hope this helps.
