• I’m not sure what green bottom piece you’re talking about, but the installation is internal. You slide off the disk plates in the side, unscrew a compartment, and tuck it in, then screw back on the compartment cover and slide the disk plate back on.

• My PS5 doesn’t have the green piece either, but it won’t effect the SSD so you can still install one
