WD has software you can download that will clone your on drive seemingly
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you intend on this being your primary drive, yes. Otherwise you can continue to use the drive your operating system is installed on and add this one to an open port. No software installation is necessary for operation. Make sure you update your bios setting to ensure your computer recognizes the drive.. otherwise you wont see it in your list of drives.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it is assuming you have a similar SATA drive. I have Windows 7 Pro as well and it works just fine. Use the Acronis Clone function to make a duplicate of your old drive on the new one. Cloning makes an exact copy of the old drive including the OS and programs. You shouldn't have to reinstall anything. I didn't. You should be fine. It takes a while but I had no problems, just a few tweaks needed. I used the Iobit Advanced System Care 8 software to help with that and everything works just fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If your old disk drive is readable, and if you can clone it (requires special software), then no, you won't. Do not use the Acornis clone program supplied from WD... it doesn't work. Otherwise you'll need your original Win 7 Pro disks or recovery disks.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, unless you can clone the drive you have now. This drive is blank if you don't have some computer skills you will not be able to use it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not if you use one of the disk imaging software options available. I made an image file of my current HD w/ Win & 7 pro to another separate HD, installed the new WD drive and restored my image file to the new 1TB drive without any issues. Imaging software will create a boot CD from which to run it from for the restore.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you use this HD as your main system drive, You will need to boot windows from it. So...you need to clone your old drive before you change it out or you need to have a back up your system or of windows to use on the new drive. If you use this drive just as additional storage than it just needs to be formatted.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you want to use this drive as a main unit yes you reinstall windows, usually when people replace the main hard drive the use a software to clone your actual drive to the new one.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Uncle Buck, If you are purchasing the hard drive as a replacement drive, yes you will have to re-load the operating system unless you clone your old hard drive onto the new one. Hope this helps to answer your question.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If the current drive you are replacing has it installed, then yes, or restore a full backup or image of your current drive to the new one.
