Yes it should work just fine, but I would recommend taking the old one with you to get the best match or best fit if you want a larger capacity.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It should work with no problem. It looks like the original spec had a 250 GB drive, but dimensions are the same. On some older computers, the BIOS had to be updated to recognize large drives, but most likely it'll be plug and play...

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would not be afraid to try on that model as I have put it in older other brands. If you don't get it to perform well, save it for a newer used laptop. But I would judge the success rate for the Studio line to be very high.

If you want a guarantee, go through Dell and buy one of their parts that has been tested for this model laptop: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/studio-1735/upgrade Once you go to this site, there is a hard drive section. However, if you are looking for an immediate solution and want to pickup something in the store, this drive is a 2.5" SATA hard drive and the repair manual says this laptop uses a 2.5" SATA hard drive. Here is the manual link: http://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_studio_laptop/studio-1735_service%20manual_en-us.pdf If you are on a budget or need lots of storage, this is probably a good choice. However, if you don't need tons of storage and *DO* want a really fast drive, look at the 240GB Solid State Drives (SSD) of any well known brand. If you find one on sale, it won't cost much more and will give much better performance. SSDs give your computer a new lease on life and most people's hard drives are well less than 40% full, so a smaller SSD is a good option over a larger traditional drive for many people.. Good Luck, Jeff
