Yes it will work. You do not have to install the firmware that is in it to transfer files.

no "Firm Ware" needed it is plug and play. 100% compatible, you will have to go to a site like IOBit.com and download a program like DriverBooster and update all of your laptop drivers after installing you Operating system.
