Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. You may need to purchase a frame for it since it is 2.5 inches and most desktops are looking for 3.5 inches. Other than the size, there is no functional difference between a desktop and laptop hard drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The answer is yes you can. Just replaced a SSD in my HP Phoenix Envy desktop. The system I have has 3 drives in it one being an SSD. If you are replacing a standard sized hard drive with a solid state drive the housing that holds the drive is smaller and you will have to replace that. SSD's are great and your boot up time and speed will be noticed. If possible I would use a second hard drive to hold (maybe your old one) large files, video, pictures etc.this way you can purchase a smaller SSD just to hold your operating system, an office program etc.Installation is very easy, make sure you have a set of restore CD's and any other programs that have to be reinstalled, also do a backup so you can transfer files back to your new drive. Hope this helps
