• So far so good...just leave it running all the time that my computer is on it is connected directly to the computer..excellent backup protection..

• If the NAS doesn't die and you are the only user. When you need it, probably it would be fine. But what if multiple users in your house using it & the NAS hard drive dies, how can you recover the data ? Typical NAS has a RAID setup for recovery if one disk is bad. Attaching an external HD as NAS is an easy & low-cost solution, but not a reliable solution.
