this is "china backdoor" so before connecting to the internet, remove all files on the HD. otherwise, it will send your data to china.

Of course i use the hard drives for storage only and before using them, just take all the wonderful software they WD provide and put it in a new folder marked WD stuff. I am never bothered with it again. Nor am i asked if i want to connect to a web page when running the HD for storage even when connected to the internet. Perhaps you have set up the hard drive to act as back up??? does it want to contact the cloud storage to do that? best thing to do is talk to the guys at Best Buy and they can help- you?
