“I just purchased this to use on our xbox one which was running out of space. However, noticed when we power the xbox one down, this stays on as a blinking light. Can I unplug it safely and plug it back in when we want to use the xbox? Help please”

There is a setting on the Xbox One under Settings - Storage. It lets you "turn off storage when console is off"

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If the drive doesn't wake up when you power the Xbox then you can just unplug the usb cord from the back of the Xbox and plug it back again and it should work. Plugging and unplugging the USB cord will have no effect on the drive.
