Yes but you will need to format it before using it with a utility called MFS formatter. The Tivo will then recognize all of the 8TBs.. If you don't you will be limited to 2TB
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. First, you must use Tivo Desktop or another program like it to transfer the TV programs from the Roamio to a computer. Then, you transfer the programs from your computer to this or any other hard drive. I did this with my Roamio from 2015-2018. For more information, go to Tivo Community Forums.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I understand you can shuck the drive (remove it) and upgrade a TiVo Roamio from 500gb to 8tb. This of course voids warranties all OVER the place. I also understand that Tivo has greatly limited the external drives that it will recognize. So until you can find someone who actually HAS a Roamio AND a working external 8TB drive, I'd assume not. Ross Walker in England has some information that may help if you choose the Frankenstein transplant option. I imagine Amazon currently has white coats for Halloween on sale as well. Alternatively ?every 6 months or so? Tivo is selling Bolt upgrades, just make sure your Roamio is up and talking to Tivo and watch your email. BB occasionally has sales as well. Good luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This will not work on the Roamio. A hard drive upgrade requires an internal drive up to 3TB in size. More than 3TB is possible with a specific process.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This drive is no different from any other external 5 inch USB drive, except, perhaps, for its capacity (and speed). It is able to operate in any of USB 1.1, 2.0 or 3.0 modes. Most devices such as Tivo's usually use the slower USB 2.0 mode rather than the "latest and greatest (fastest) USB 3.0 transfer mode.
