Yes/No. However, if you already have data on the NAS, Mac will force a format, if it isn't already formatted in an "Apple acceptable" way. My apologies, I just don't know how to explain it. Connected directly via USB, the Mac will not read it (unless already formatted for Apple). If, however, when brand new, it had been plugged via USB to a Mac; you should be fine. Unless you have another backup, you probably don't want to format the NAS for Apple. I personally tried the Ethernet option and my Mac will not recognize it at all. Like another answer said; my Mac is perfectly happy to interact over wifi connection with the EX2. It's just super slow, and I'm guessing that's why you're interested in direct connection. Sorry, but the only way I've found to speed up the process at all, has been using a 2Tb drive to copy everything to, connect it to the NAS via USB port, then copy from that (shows as a main share, like "public"). However, that presented it's own share of time consuming issues, for me at least.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've never tried it but I seriously doubt it. The device looks like a peer computer, and can present its storage as shared disk drives. It only connects through Ethernet, either wired or wifi. The Mac supports it just fine as a NAS device. Don't know if this answers your question.
