I don't have one of these drives (yet) but i can answer this question.. When you have the device in RAID0 ( Stripe mode ) it takes both ( or if you had multiple drives ) and combines the data to make it one full drive spanning over the physical drives. The downside to this, of course, is you could lose data if one of your drives fails.. it's not protected in a mirror mode. Raid 1 ( Mirror) Duplicates the data from both drives, so that if one drive fails, the other takes over. When you replace the drive, it gets rebuilt as the mirror of the existing drive. I would think that if you use the raid0, in my thought process, it wouldn't be a problem if you lost the drives IF you are backing up your data to the cloud. Hope this helps.
