• Hi Gunny, The WD My Passport Portable can be used to backup the data from the Windows 7 computer and to restore it on Windows 10 computer. • I've never used the Windows backup utility. I just copy files or us one of the free file-syncing utilities...FreeFileSync is the one I've been using for the past several years.
