If you bought the windows formatted version of the hard drive, you need to reformat the hard drive first. For the extra $4 it costs to buy a MAC formatted hard drive, it is money well spent via time saved (unless you are a techie....)

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You must buy the mac compatible drive, the drives are not equal so double check the packaging. Once done and set up (you can add passwords to your drive) it works seamlessly with time machine.
