• Yes, you need to buy the converter or dongle. I use one from Hoo Too company.

• I am a everyday Windows Engineer and love to play in MAC World. I had to get an extra cable, dock, and adapter for my new MBP 13. You get juiced by Apple right out of the gate when you get their computers or phones as every devices has it's own dang cord but with USB C it appears relatively Universal and a good format. I did just pick up an IOmega USB C Dock from BB which is a tad larger and $120 but works awesome!! I did grab that $19 single USB C -> USB adapter though as I am surely not taking the dock everywhere I go. Cheers!!

• This only came with a USB which I use with my MacBook Pro. If yours only has Thunderbolt cables you would need to purchase an extra cable. Also be extra sure to buy the drive compatible with a mac! They are specified.
