I'm not sure how much I had on my old system but the new has a 1tb hard drive so that is why I choose this one. Compatible with Mac
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can use as much as you want. When your drive is about 10% of it's full capacity, you should delete files. This gives more stability to the drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Someone was wrong. You will be able to back up or clone your hard drive to this external/portable. In the process of backing up ,imaging and cloning, the software you use will give you the choice to back up as much as you want. You can resize and all kinds of options. A simple hard drive back up is going to back up only the space you want. You can use windows OS or another program to do it. The portable does not need to be over 1TB just because your HDD will hold 1TB. The software that comes with it usually works ok. I recommend a free software called Macrium Reflect for simple backups with all the options you could want. I hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That all depends. But as long as you leave 10-15% "free" space on your 1TB drive, and you don't care about having multiple backups, you should be fine. Also, you may or may not need to do a FULL backup if you can reinstall the OS and programs. BUT as long as the amount you want to save is less than the space available, you should be fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I also have a 1 TB drive. I backed up the system including an image without problems. Not sure why anyone would tell you that.
