• It's easy to reformat for use with a Mac - right out of the box you can get information from the on-disk manual and it has information about how to reformat for a Mac. The reformat is quick.

• Yes, it will work with a Mac. You will have to reformat the drive and change the drive parameters from the Mac. Google Apple support and it shows step by step.

• Yes, but if do don't buy the Mac edition, you'll need to format the drive for a Mac. Just go to the Apple support site or google "format back-up drive for Mac" and you'll find very easy instructions. It will take you less than five minutes to get it working. I formatted the drive to work with Apple's Time Capsule back-up system on a MacBook Pro.

• They have a model specific for MAC and one specific for Windows. Check the packaging for which is which
