Yes, It is true. There is a design flaw with locking system. I just got the same model from home depot and personally experienced this issue. I returned the grills immediately
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. For all future shoppers, the lid lock fails about half the time. It allows the lid to slip past the latch and the grates fall out onto the ground. I know it's not something that I'm doing incorrectly because the latch is still engaged and the lid can't close again after I pick up all the pieces that fell out. Frustrating and embarrassing, just get another cheaper nicer grill from all of the choices that are available out there.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just purchased mine on 4/22/2023, and to answer ur question this did happen as we transported it to the beach, and the griddles hit the sand etc!!!. Great grill that’s was my major issue. I’m returning for another new one to give it another chance!!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine doesn't al all. There is a red tab lock on the front that MUST be secured in order to make sure the latch lock engages properly. Keep an eye on that and you shouldn't have any problems.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Haven’t transported for use but I find that hard to believe if done correctly.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi! If the lid is locked properly the lid will not swing open.
